Traci Brown

Hello, my name is Traci Brown and I feel honored to be able to share my CrossFit journey. Now where do I begin….

I began my CrossFit journey (it truly is a journey) in 2012 and have not looked back once. When I first walked in the door, I was on the brink of obesity, on depression and anxiety medicine as well as struggled to keep up with my young, active daughters. I had known the Walker Family for years, even tried a trial class, that lead to me in the parking lot, not feeling so well. It wasn’t until 2012 when I lost a parent to cancer that my eyes truly opened to my own health and what example I was providing my children.

From the moment when I completed my first orientation class at CrossFit Northwest Tucson, I was hooked. I began in the CrossFit Lites class, making it a point to go three times a week. Within two weeks, I started to see results. Just these little results made me wanting more, so I went strict Paleo and boy did my world change. Within 12 weeks of starting my journey, I had dropped 25 pounds, 3 dress sizes, was off all medications and I was achieving goals I never thought possible. In my three years of joining CrossFit, I have maintained my weight loss; I look and feel better than I ever have in my life. Need I say more? Oh but yes, I do.

My journey became more than just working out and losing weight. It has become a family, a community, and I am held accountable. Sure, I still enjoy hitting new PR’s and I still focus on a clean diet but it’s more than that for me. It is about meeting my WOD sisters at the gym nightly to push them through the WOD because they do the same for me.  It’s about encouraging the new comer, who is trying it for the first time because I was once in their shoes. It’s about showing my daughters that leading a healthy lifestyle is important.

CrossFit Northwest Tucson was created by the Walker Family and they have opened their doors to the community. From the moment you walk in through the door, we each are a member of the family. We may all have a slightly different journey but the coaches and the members are there to help support and cheer us through our highest highs and lowest lows.
